Fictionwise, how do I love thee? Let me count the ways.

1, 2, 300...

Five Year Buywise Super Promo.

I am a total sucker for sales/discounts/freebies/promos/coupons. I picked up 87 88 ebooks, only 4 of which I was going to buy regardless. It's a nice opportunity to hopefully discover new authors or even reacquaint myself with authors I've drifted away from.

Of course, now I have almost $400 of Micropay and nothing in my wishlist. Fictionwise is an evil genius, and I am its willing lemming.

*ROFLMAO* IT'S A RELIEVE!!! *cough* As it's not only me who do something like that. I mean buying like a hurricane. I do it when buying local licensed manga (but, hey, it's not expensive; only about US$.5 per book), I did it for Chinese especially yaoi manga during the year of 2004-2006. Thanks for making me feel not bad *glances at her wallet*

Yes! It's just not you! I punish my wallet to feed my perverted needs. But I think it likes it. XD
10th-Nov-2007 10:41 pm (UTC)
Wallets weren't any help... *nods*. It keep saying RAPE MEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! every time I try to consider(?) buying books. Not a help at all...

Choosing is a difficult task *nods*. Here I am, cannot decide what to ask you to buy me yaoi manga from the States. It's just I like to get every single title *dies*
11th-Nov-2007 10:32 pm (UTC)
*nods* Yes, yes, I have one of those slutty wallets, too!

I'm working on getting every single title, too, so I understand your pain.

If you want to start with the cheaper titles, I'd start with BLu. I believe a new copy of each of these titles can be bought for a little under $7 US each, and since they're smaller than some other publishers (like June/DMP), four books can fit in each global envelope (it costs a flat $11 US to ship anything that will fit in a global envelope):
Black Knight 1-3
Gakuen Heaven
Gerard & Jacques 1-2
Gorgeous Carat 1-4
Innocent Bird 1-3
Junjo Romantica 1-4
Love Mode 1-7
Love Pistols 1-2
Lovers in the Night
Menkui 1-3
Shinobu Kokoro: Hidden Heart
Shout Out Loud 1-5
Takumi-kun 1: June Pride
Truly Kindly
Wild Rock

I also think you can probably find some of these really cheap used (especially Menkui, Shout Out Loud, Black Knight) if you look around hard enough (auction sites, private sales, etc.), but sometimes it's not worth the time. I only randomly buy used copies when they're really cheap (and usually just picking up an extra copy) or for books I'm not really that interested in, but still want for my collection.

I believe most June/DMP books can be bought for $9 US, but because of their size, only 3 books will fit in a global envelope.

Let me know what titles specifically you're looking for and I'll let you know what prices I can find.

Phew..., you sure forced me to get done with my list *wipes forehead*. Here is my at-last-done wishlist then (at the moment):

I wanted baaaaaaaadly: http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?tag=wishlist+1
Maybe wanted badly too but it can wait (can it, I wonder): http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?tag=wishlist+2
To think that so far the local Kino could get it for me (only 2 *LOL*): http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php?tag=wishlist+2

Blu's (as well as NetComics' and Juné's) actually aren't too difficult to get though it's not too easy either, argh. From the list you presented I haven't got Black Knight 3, Gorgeous Carat 1-3 (somehow I am very easy about this one), Innocent Bird 1-3, Love Pistols 1-2, Junjo Romantica 4, Love Mode 7, Lovers in the Night, Takumi-kun 1: June Pride.

I'm pretty sure that I would get Junjo Romantica 4 & Love Mode 7 in the near future (unless the local Kino failedouch...).

But for sure I'm getting Menkui series and Shout Out Loud series (let's hope my country's postal agency won't be at their best: fuck-up). Bought a week ago or so from an LJ user, and, what did I know, I got BB's Selfish Love series as well. Hooray~ I am not sure, yet, of what kind of postal services the person used. The cost is nearly as much as what I've paid for the purchases. But, it's for 11 books (I grabbed Café Kichijouji 1 too) and at the end I got everything cheaper more than half compare to the retail price in my country (if available). Even thought I have to take Menkui 3 and Shout Out Loud 3 too despite I have it already. It's a good deal no matter what. Especially the person was having a buy-3-get-2-more-for-free.

Or, maybe I'm just easy. Well, I know I'm easy, and easy to be satisfied. As long as I could get it, that's it! I am fine with second-hand books, I'm used with it since before my manga period. When to get a book became such a luxurious and beyond my touch, anything readable would do (eh, I mean, even when a used book doesn't have its cover anymore, it's OK).

There is another person that I wanted to buy from actually. When she posted it, I wasn't sure that my cc can handle it. I am using the low-limit cc for paypal and haven't paid up the billing yet (for precaution since I'm still worried about cc thievery as there are many in my country, as well as I need a little help from my self to control my online shopping [but I abused it when buying at the stores, so it may not be the point]). Unfortunately, she couldn't make sure that she would be able to wait for another week but I could try. So I came back a week later, full forced hehe.... But she hasn't replied me back this time. Guess it's just not my luck.

Haven't tried to look at auctions besides yahoo's Singapore (no finding in there for English's), or e-bay yet.

BTW, last week I managed to make a honey-mooner couple to get me some from Singapore. The wify said, because of it they got the chance to wonder about Singapore more than the areas nearby the hotel and a hospital. They were also taking the hubby's mom to a hospital in there and the hubby is not initiative enough about sight-seeing and stuff (to be exact, lazy). Asking people to get me something like this is not my favorite actually. I believe when people do the traveling, they must have their own shopping too. But, I've learned that as long as the list I gave was attached with money, people would be more than willing to help me out. Especially when they know how crazy I am toward manga. Another friend once went to Bangkok and she brought me 39 books with her--guess she's crazier than me.

Better not to keep going with my rambling. This is a comment, not an LJ'd update, silly me! Do you think you get what I wanted to tell you manga-buying wise? I'm an airhead. Ack...
18th-Nov-2007 12:28 am (UTC)
Heh, ramble away! I totally enjoyed it. ^_^

And what nice people you know, to offer to pick stuff up for you while they're traveling. Sometimes, I really don't like people, but when I hear nice stories like that, it makes me love 'em... just a little. ;)

I'm not sure if it will be cheaper to have me buy/ship books for you, but if it is, I'm happy to help out. I think we're the same, I don't care if the book is used, and I have a better experience if I don't feel like I got ripped off buying something. XD

I made a post with some info for you here: http://whey.livejournal.com/198931.html

11th-Nov-2007 10:34 pm (UTC)
Oh yeah, NetComic releases are the same as most BLu titles ($7 US each new, and 4 fit in an envelope).
9th-Nov-2007 05:50 am (UTC)
Luckily they're not apples so you have no problems of let them sitting there for a while XD
Plus you're a goddess and you know why!
10th-Nov-2007 04:09 pm (UTC)
My beloved hamster!! One of these days, I'm flying to Italy and kidnapping you. I'm going to bring you back to the states with me, and you'll be my book-reading-companion forever.

Bunny will make dinner for us and cocoa or tea every morning, and while he's at work, we'll lounge around in our flannel robes and squee over all the excellent romantic man-porn out there.

And, maybe, some day, we'll even get the courage to cosplay, and take pictures, and go to silly conventions every month.

Ahhhh... such lovely dreams. XD
9th-Nov-2007 06:20 pm (UTC)

Okay now I officially hate/love you. *rubs up against you*
Hi new best friend LOL!!!
That is just so awesome this title looks interesting:
Beautiful Samurai, White Tiger by Sedonia Guillone

ooo and you got some Willa Okati, she's nice.
Do you happen to know which of these titles have Menage in them *snickers* yeah gotta love the mulitple weenie.
9th-Nov-2007 07:07 pm (UTC)
For really well-written menages, you must read Chris Owen:

9-1-1
An Agreement Among Gentlemen
Gemini (featuring twincest, and one of my absolute favorite reads)

There are lots of others, but I always think of Gemini when I think of menages. I need to update my LT account and add "menage" tags. XD
9th-Nov-2007 07:52 pm (UTC)
*squeee*
Menages are fun....... especially teh ghey LOL
What's not to love about mulitple man smex.

I've bought ebooks from:
www.changelingpress.com
www.extasybooks.com
www.ellorascave.com

Each one has their own flavor. I have not ever bought from fictionwise. I'll have to go look at their website.

And now back to the menage.. Some of my ero books are not just strictly gay menage, I do like my blend (2guys 1 girl, but the guys screw each other) those type. I enjoy the het stuff too, although some it can be corny.

9th-Nov-2007 07:55 pm (UTC)
Okay I went ahead and signed up with fictionwise. How does the special you're talking about work?
10th-Nov-2007 04:14 pm (UTC)
Eeeek! I suck. I didn't post about the promo until it was almost over. It's over now.

Again, I suck (and not in the good blowjob way, this time).

*bows* please forgive me!
10th-Nov-2007 04:42 pm (UTC)
Now you shall get beat with a wet noodle covered in Olive oil (yeah I love food) LOL
9th-Nov-2007 07:58 pm (UTC)
$124 dollars for 5 year membership? Unfortunately its out of my budget now, but I will look around at their books.
10th-Nov-2007 04:13 pm (UTC)
Yeah, it's pricey unless you're a fanatic ebook buyer (I buy on average 4-5 ebooks a week). I had enough Micropay to cover the membership cost, so I don't think I was actually out of pocket for that.

Hmmm, did you get my message? LJ supposedly has private messaging now, but I'm not sure if it really works. -_-
10th-Nov-2007 04:19 pm (UTC)
Hey there, no I didn't get your private message weird. However if you have Googletalk installed we can chat through there since it will accept LJ ids. If you do use Googletalk you have to input you LJ id as name@livejournal.com and your LJ password. hmm private messages hehhe.
I can just see it now

"Say have you seen that new copy of meatmen #40" yes sirree they have some nice dicks. LOL
16th-Nov-2007 04:32 am (UTC)
Is it possible to share your ebooks with us, your humble and poor servants, oh my goddess of yaoi-sharing? ;)
16th-Nov-2007 04:54 am (UTC)
LOL! Fiesty minx, you do get points for asking, but obviously I can't. However, it's always more fun to share and squee with others, so if you're interested, I try to send you a few of my Micropay bucks (I've never tried, no idea if I can buy a Fictionwise gift certificate with Micropay).
19th-Nov-2007 07:27 am (UTC)
*grins* Couldn't help but asking, Whey. As for Micropay, thank you very much but I must refuse your offer. I'm kinda green at this fictionwise or buying things online. Again, thank you :)
